“Mata Bhumih Putroham Prithivyah”

It can be understood that Vedic society was the first Environmental Protection Society
in the history of mankind. In Veda we find the concept that everything in the
world has life in it whether it is living or non-living. Veda begins with the
worship of Gods of Nature, viz. the terrestrial Gods like Prithvi, Agni,
Brihaspati and Soma, the atmospheric Gods like Indra, Rudra, Maruts, Vayu
and Parjanya and the celestial Gods like Dyaus, Varuna, Ushas and Asvins.

From Hymn to Mother Earth Atharva Veda: ‘The air is her breath, the trees are the hairs
of her body, the oceans her waist, the hills and mountains are her bones, the rivers are the veins of the Cosmic Person, Her movements are the passing of ages’.

Nature in this sense is seen as embodying the female creative principle of the cosmos. It is the conjunction of the conscious principle, called purusha, and
creative material principle called prakriti, from which the cosmos arises and mother earth is the manifestation of this material and spiritual principles powerfully linking all things in this world.

अहङ्कार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा।।"

They Are An Inseparable Part Of Our Existence.
